I do mostly high altitude fresh water dives. I am looking for something to keep my mask from fogging up. I am not a huge fan of doing mask clears at 40 feet+ underwater water. What is everyone else using? Thanks
I have tried a couple different McNett solutions and this seems to be the best one. I prefer drops over gels. It just seems to last longer and be less expensive. I actually use this stuff for my snowboarding googles as well. I have never really had an eye irritation and one bottle, though small, will last you while. Overall this is a good inexpensive product that does its job.
I am a big fan of spray solutions for my googles. It is easy to apply and it basically covers the whole mask in one or two sprays. The last stuff I used would hurt my eyes on occasion, so I wanted something that wouldn't do that. So far this seems very gentle, and I do not notice an odor on film on my mask. Overall this is a good product that does the job without trying to do too much. I needed something to keep my mask from fogging up and this does it.
I wish there was something that could take care of my mask fogging up permanently, but the fact is there isn't. This seems to work about 90% of the time. You don't have to apply a lot to cover your whole mask. I do use it before every dive though. I figure why have it if I am not going to use it. All and all it seems to work good. It is worth a try.
This seems to work well for me. It is a small bottle so it doesn't take up much travel space. This was the first time I had used a gel product, so I was a little concerned about coverage, but it was easy to apply. And the best thing is that I can dive 2-3 times with a single application. I actually wish the bottle was a little bigger. I dive quite a bit so I go through it fast, but it is a reasonable priced, so I don't really have much to complain about. I don't know if there is anything much better out there.
When we went to Cancun we took lessons and luckily planned ahead because no one had any over there. Something about not being able to get it outside the states. We bought this mask defogger in the 2oz bottle and it lasted us the whole week we were there for 4 people. We left it with the instructor because he was so impressed with it. Works well to clean your goggles too.
