I am assuming you are talking about a home theater soundbar, not like a Jeep soundbar?
I have been considering buying this little combo. I was looking at some more expensive soundbars... they sell 'em up to 7, 8 hundred dollars, which is absurd if you ask me! I just want something that's a step up from my crappy built-in Vizio speakers.
I like that it has a woofer, too. TV speakers are often on the 'tinny' side so the woofer should add a little much needed depth.
From reading some reviews it seems the only issue with this bar is that it is a bit directional, in that you have to be more or less in front of it to get the full sound spectrum. This is great for me because my couch is directly in front of the TV, but might not be ideal for every one.
Sony is a good company for stuff like this. I consider them a good mid-range company for sound systems. Not the best, but really good for the price.
Good luck with your search, hope this helps.
If it were ME buying one of these sound bars, I think I would go with this Sony or the Polk. I don't mind spending serious money on audio equipment, but I think a sound bar is not the place to invest. It's designed mostly for movie/TV watching which does not require audiophile quality audio. This bar (plus woofer) will give you some awesome sound that will fill a room, and will save you some cash to put towards other sound systems!
I just don't think a sound bar is worth $600 when I can get a 5.1 channel stereo system for half that that will produce more sound.
That's my opinion.... good luck in your search, and I'm sure you will enjoy whatever you end up with!
This one is by the company that makes Harmon/Kardon (high quality speakers/receivers etc.) Very much a reputable company...this thing will be freakin fantastic.
Take note that it's actually not a sound bar, though it looks like one. It's just a speaker with L,R, and center channels. All this means is you will need a receiver to operate it... which may be a deal breaker...I don't know. But I do know this is a great company (I own speakers and receivers made by them and they are of high quality) and it wil be a good product.
If you want a REAL soundbar......
Okay so this is a very expensive unit but absolutely worth it, if you want some exceptional audio. Really, exceptional. I have a pretty large living room and despise clutter, which led me to the soundbar option. This thing completely fills up my living room with big, beautiful sound, and takes up hardly any room, which I really like.
I guess it's a bit tall... I don't know if it's technically a soundbar or not, but it does the same thing.
Worth the price if you ask me.
Will truly fill the room with sound. Nine 3.5-inch midrange drivers, three 0.75-inch silk dome tweeters; shelf stand, wall mount bracket, and color-coded 15-foot speaker wire is included. You will also need a subwoofer and a receiver, but if price is not an object these are really great speakers.
